Delbert Donald Lange, 91, of Irma, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.
Delbert was born May 5, 1933, in Gleason, to the late Otto Sr. and Minnie (Radeck) Lange. He enlisted in the United States Army in April 1953 and served with his twin brother, Delmer, during the Korean War. Delbert was honorably discharged in March 1955. On September 22, 1956, he married Marie Schaupp. Delbert worked as a bricklayer for most of his working years. In and out of state, he worked on some prestigious projects, such as DC Everest and Barron Paper Mill.
Delbert and Marie loved to travel and managed to visit all 50 states during their 64-year marriage. Being big country western fans, they also attended numerous Fan Fairs in Nashville, Tennessee. Delbert also loved to deer, rabbit, and turkey hunt in his younger years. Delbert and Marie also had a good time hitting the casinos.
The last from a family of ten, Delbert was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; infant son, Gregory; brothers, Oscar, Clarence, Carl, Emil, Laverne, and Otto Jr.; and sisters, Iona and Evelyn. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive including Nancy Leder and Mike Schaupp, his gambling cronies. Also, Jerry and Rose Schoepke, his extremely helpful neighbors.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 14, 2025, at Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral & Cremation – 301 Eagle Drive, Merrill. Rev. David Sutton will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638, Merrill. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M., Friday, at the funeral home.
