Donald "Don" W. Steinbeck

September 13, 1954 — February 18, 2025

Donald “Don” Wayne Steinbeck, age 70, of Gleason, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his home. He was born on September 13, 1954 to the late Norbert and Delores (Anderson) Steinbeck in Madison, WI. Don attended and graduated from Merrill High School. He met Kathleen “Kathy” Guite, and the two were united in marriage on November 13, 1976, in Merrill. She survives.

Don worked at various places, including Lincoln Wood, until he was unable to continue work due to health issues. When he wasn’t working, Don’s family was first and foremost in his life and he cherished every minute with them. He was very proud of his children and was a man with a heart of gold. He loved dogs and had many throughout the years! Every chance he had, Don was outside, either enjoying a beautiful day on the lake fishing or working in his vegetable garden. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Don was also involved in the area pool leagues, made the best smoked salmon, sausage and homemade beer. He was known for his 16-bean soup and for canning the vegetables from his garden. Don will be missed dearly, but never forgotten.

Don is survived by his wife: Kathy Steinbeck, sons: Peter James “PJ” Steinbeck and Donald Steinbeck, daughters: Collette (Kevin) Lane and Carrie (Richard) Robbins, his beloved grandchildren: McKenna, Hunter, Blake, Destiny, Ethan, Tristen “TJ”, Madison and Breanna, sister: Barb Schwartzman. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Budde Steinbeck.

Per Don’s request, there will be no services held. Family will do a burial at a later time.

Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral & Cremation is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences are encouraged and may be made at www.taylorstinewaid.com.
