Duane R. Isaacson

Duane R. Isaacson, 94, of New London, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Kindred Heart Senior Living under the care of Compassus Hospice. 

Duane was born January 20, 1931, in Merrill, son of Oscar and Frieda (Hartwig) Isaacson. After high school, Duane enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country for four years and was honorably discharged. Duane then came back to his hometown where he met Valeria Ossig. They were married on June 10, 1961. Shortly after their wedding, they purchased a farm on highway P in the Town of Pine River and started their dairy farm. Valeria passed away on March 24, 1982. Duane then married Verna Pagel Saeger on September 8, 1984 and she passed away on February 19, 2005. 

Duane enjoyed building machines that he called ‘toys’ and working in his shop. He helped out where he could whether it was helping other farmers or at the church. For quite some time, Duane helped on the Walter Behm farm. 

Duane is survived by his sons, Blake (Michelle) Isaacson of Florida, Glenn Isaacson of Merrill, and Randy Isaacson of Bear Creek, WI; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ferne Isaacson of Merrill. He was preceded in death by his wives, Valeria ‘Val’ and Verna; his parents, Oscar and Frieda Isaacson; daughter-in-law, Connie Isaacson; and brother, Jerome Isaacson.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral & Cremation at 903 E. Third St., Merrill. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Pine River.
