Edwin Burr Gipple, 83, of Merrill, passed away peacefully at his son’s home on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
Burr was born July 4, 1941, in Merrill, son of Edwin Bunsen Gipple and Dorothy Ida (Plautz) Gipple. Burr owned and operated Club 107 in Merrill from 1965 until 1972. He worked at Ward Paper Company as a colorman and retired in 1995.
Burr enjoyed watching sports especially football. He favored the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. In younger years, he played baseball for the Merrill Giants. Burr was also instrumental in developing the ice drags. For 40 years, Burr hunted mule deer in Wyoming. He loved talking about hunting and sharing his own hunting stories. He loved his dogs, sitting on the deck and having a cocktail, and woodworking in his garage.
Survivors include his sons, Scott (Sandra) Gipple and Randy (Jodi) Gipple of Merrill; grandchildren, Dana (Rob) Klug, Lea (Jeremy) Dobson, Karissa Gipple (Joel Meyer), Kasi (Kurt) Waid, and Kody (Leah) Gipple; great grandchildren, Lola, Evie, Tate, Willow, Isaac, Laney, Hadley, Konner, Marlee, and Kenzie; brother, Bunsen Gipple of Tomahawk; and close friends, Judy Anderson of Merrill. Burr was preceded in death by parents, Edwin and Dorothy Gipple; infant brothers; sister-in-law, Joni Gipple; and his former spouse and the mother of his children, Marlene Essert.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral & Cremation– 301 Eagle Drive, Merrill.
