John 'Johnny' N. Stevenson

1977 — 2025

Merrill

Our beloved son John ‘Johnny’ N. Stevenson was born January 12, 1977, in Merrill, on his Great-Grandfather Baumann’s birthday to Alfred ‘Fritz’ and Lorraine ‘Rainey’ Stevenson. He was baptized on February 27, 1977 and confirmed on May 10, 1992 all at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He started his working days while in high school at Drew’s Piggly Wiggly as a carryout/stocker and then moved to the meat room. After he graduated in 1995, he started at Hurd Millwork and ended up at Agra Industries. He worked there for almost 18 years. He was most recently the foreman of the paint room but had also worked other jobs at the company. He was more than just an employee to them.

He was enjoyed turkey and deer hunting and had a number of his trophy mounts throughout his home. He really enjoyed riding his HARLEY and driving his 2017 Dodge Charger (his two loves!). He also liked to go up to Michigan and collect and tumble “Yooper” rocks, which his best friend Bill and Bill’s family (John’s second family) got him interested in.

He was someone you could always count on to help you with anything, no questions asked, he always just made time to be there when needed. Whether it was with repairs, help moving things, cutting and splitting wood, helping at the church ball diamond, or just being a friend. He never expected anything in return.

His friendship, laughs, smiles, love and kindness will be missed by all, but he has left us all with wonderful cherished memories that will hopefully last us for our lifetime seeing that his was cut too short.

John is survived by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Angie Stevenson; sister and brother-in-law, Michele and Nick Nystul; two adoring nephews that he loved and they loved him dearly, Liam Stevenson and Bently Nystul; and son, Austin Stevenson. He is further survived by uncles and aunts, Earl & Linda Schmidt, Ruth Young, Steve & Laura Ament, Faye Stevenson, and Robert Stevenson; a number of cousins; best friends, Bill Anthoney and Jamie Ohlmann; many friends that he worked with including Greg and Roy; and Simon the Cat.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred & Evelyn Stevenson and Norman & Leona Schmidt; uncles and aunts, Ray Stevenson, Ron Stevenson, Ron Young, LuAnn Stevenson, William ‘Peanuts’ & Elvera Neumann, and Rod & Diane Pichelman; nephew, Johnathan Stevenson; cousin, Darrin Neumann; and his dog and sidekick, Gerttie.
