Randy D. Schwartz

Randy D. Schwartz, 72, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 at his home under the care of his family and Interim Hospice.

Randy was born April 22, 1952, in Rantoul, Illinois, son of Raymond Sr. and Verna (Edmund) Schwartz. After high school graduation, he attended UW-Stevens Point and UW-Madison. Randy worked as a Director of Food Service – Category Operation for the food service industry. He had worked with several restaurants including Applebee’s and IHop. Randy had lived in several cities including: Spokane, Chicago, Atlanta, San Antonio, Jacksonville, and Albuquerque. On November 5, 1988, he married Theresa Haverfield in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In August 2020, Randy and Theresa moved to Merrill. Randy retired in 2022. Randy enjoyed reading and the restoration of 1970 Oldsmobile 442 convertibles.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa (Haverfield) Schwartz of Merrill; son, Andrew Schwartz of Wausau; granddaughter, Elizabeth Schwartz; brothers, Gary (Mary) Schwartz of Merrill and Ray Jr. (Ellie) Schwartz of Merrill; sisters-in-law, Mary (Peter) Bradley of Lakewood, Colorado and Ann Smith of Lakewood Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Sr. and Verna Schwartz; daughter, Sara Elizabeth Schwartz; and brother-in-law, Tom Smith.

The funeral service for Randy will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Michael Southcombe will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 A.M., Tuesday at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Children’s Cancer Society or Make a Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.
