Sandra "Sandy" A. Spears

Sandra A. Spears died peacefully with her family at her side on December 1, 2024. Sandy loved children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchild. She took care of many children during her life and was known to all as “Nana Sandy.” She was an avid seamstress, sharing her talents with many. Sandy was born in 1943 and lived in Merrill her entire life. She worked at Church Mutual as an audit specialist for 24 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ron Spears, her parents Herman and Ivy (Gartmann) Hoffman, a brother Harvey Hoffman, two sisters Susan Hoffman and Karen Diels, and her son, Todd Spears. She is survived by her son Dean (Jean) Spears, daughter Tammy (Trevor) LaRene, grandchildren Bennett and Ethan (Becca) LaRene, Tasha and Todd Spears, and great-granddaughter Ivy LaRene, as well as many beloved friends and relatives.

The family would like to thank the staff of Aspirus Merrill Emergency Department and the Aspirus Cardiac ICU staff in Wausau, as well as the Merrill Police Department.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, or in support of organ donation, or to St Stephen United Church of Christ in Merrill.

A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Club, Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 1-4pm.
